Cell Phone Recycling at July VGFD Meeting
Do you old cell phones laying around the house? Don't throw them away! Let VGFD recycle them and raise some money in the process!

Cell phones contain toxic materials such as arsenic, lead and zinc. According to a new study by environmental research group Inform, people in the US will soon be getting rid of about 130 million cell phones each year. That's about 65,000 tons of cell phones and ultimately they are thrown away.

VGFD will recycle your phone with a recycling company, who will pay us cash for each phone. We can also recycle functioning iPods and Sony PSPs. Phones with little to no resale value will be donated to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence.

Donation guidelines:
Each cell phone must be fully functional and have a working battery. That means it must power on, LCD displays work and not broken or bleeding, keypad works, scroll bars works, no broken antenna, no water damage, no loose or broken flip, display light comes on, and not have a cracked body. Accessories such as chargers are not required but appreciated.

Please put the phone and any accessories in a plastic ziploc bag. If you have multiple phones please put each phone in a separate bag.

To protect your privacy please erase your address book, call history, photos, and text messages. It is not necessary to include the SIM card if your phone uses one.
