Valley Democrats United and Progressive Democrats of Los Angeles proudly present:
an evening with noted Politically Progressive author/documentarian NORMAN SOLOMON, discussing his latest book, “MADE LOVE, GOT WAR: Close Encounters with America's Warfare State (October 2007).”
The Los Angeles Times called that book "brutally persuasive" and "a must-read for those who would like greater context with their bitter morning coffee, or to arm themselves for the debates about Iraq that are still to come." He will also talk about making the documentary "War Made Easy," based on his 2005 book, "War Made Easy: How Presidents and Pundits Keep Spinning Us to Death."
Solomon has appeared as a guest on many media outlets including the PBS NewsHour With Jim Lehrer, CNN, MSNBC, Fox News Channel, C-SPAN, public radio's Marketplace, and NPR's All Things Considered, Morning Edition and Talk of the Nation.
Margie Murray, VDU newsletter Editor and Mimi Kennedy, PDA national spokesperson will be taking questions from the audience in a town hall meeting format.
The Chair and Officers of DPSFV invite the Presidents of clubs affiliated with the Democratic Party of the San Fernando Valley to a Presidents Brunch.
As we move into the election cycle let’s start our conversation about how we will participate and ensure Democratic Victory in 2008. Let’s enjoy a great brunch, talk and share ideas about:
• The DPSFV Offices for 2008
• What you would like from DPSFV
• What DPSFV can do to support your club
• And anything else on your minds
(Parking Available in the Rear. Handicapped Accessible both front and rear.)
Our monthly eboard meeting. All Democrats are invited to come to our meetings however only board members can vote.
In honor of Veteran’s Day, 4 Star Democratic Club, LAX Area Democratic Club, and Citizens for Veterans’ Rights will hold a forum Saturday, November 10, 2007 on the issues active duty military, Reserve, Guard and military veterans face today. We will hear from a high profile panel of veterans what it takes to win the veteran vote. With 24 million veterans across the country, with heavy populations in many key states, winning the veteran vote can literally turn this next election around. For very veteran vote we win we can bring in three more (families and friends) votes.
The crisis of leadership since 2001 has led to the numerous ominous signs, which Democrats must point to in any discussion of national security. Only a concerted effort at improving the present military conditions will help to stem problems such as these.
Join us to become conversant with veterans and heavily pro-military voters on key issues that will help them to understand exactly how the Democratic Party is their natural home.
