Join us for our July meeting on Saturday the 19th at 10:00 am at the State Building Auditorium, 6150 Van Nuys Blvd. Everyone who attends the July meeting will receive an Obama bumper sticker, compliments of VGFD. We'll have additional ones available for a contribution, along with Obama buttons and Democratic buttons.

Our main program will be on Red to Blue efforts nationwide and in California. "Red to Blue" seats are those held by Republicans but that Democrats have a good opportunity to win. After we hear what the Democratic pickup opportunities are, we will break up into groups to discuss how best we can help.

Other items on the agenda:

Vote on bylaws changes
Endorsements for the November election
Information on running for the VGFD club election in September
Phone cards for soldiers at the VA

Thursday July 24, 2008

This month the Burbank Democrats take a local tack on school funding and the state budget crisis impact with guest Dave Kemp, vice president of the Burbank Board.of Education. Though holding a non-partisan seat, Kemp is a Democrat and will take questions after his remarks.

Members can also weigh in on whether or not the club should join in the renewed call to censure Sen. Diane Feinstein, prompted by her telecom immunity/FISA "yes" vote and others, now led by the CA Courage Campaign. And there will be plenty of ongoing voter reg and electioneering info to pick up, as the club also eyes helping Russ Warner's campaign against GOP mainstay David Dreier in the adjacent 26th District.
