California Democrats who were involved in the 2008 campaign are invited to help select delegates for the California Democratic Party’s Convention, which will be held April 24-26, 2009 in Sacramento. The California Democratic Party is convening delegate election meetings in each of the state’s 80 Assembly Districts on January 10 or 11, 2009. These 12 people will represent their Assembly District for both the 2009 and 2010 State Conventions. They will elect one person to represent the AD on the State Party’s Executive Board. (The deadline to file to become a delegate has already passed.)
Below are dates and locations for the Valley Assembly Districts. Please note that some districts overlap into the San Fernando Valley and their meetings are not in the Valley. The DPSFV Nominations Committee will be reporting names of persons seeking DPSFV officer positions at the January 5, 2009 DPSFV executive board meeting. The election will take place at the February 28, 2009 General Assembly for a two-year term. Nominations are being taken for the positions of Chair, 1st Vice Chair, 2nd Vice Chair, Corresponding Secretary, and Recording Secretary. The Committee will discuss the requirements with the potential candidate, one-on-one. Please mark your calendars for our next meeting to discuss " Fire-Breathing Liberal: How I Learned to Survive (and Thrive) in the Contact Sport of Congress" by Robert Wexler on Thursday, January 8, 6:30 PM (Dinner), 7:30 - 9:00 PM (Discussion). We'll be meeting at the Denny's at the corner of Burbank and Sepulveda.
The book is an informative and engaging story of Robert Wexler, a former New Yorker, as he becomes a leader in the House of Representatives from Broward County, Florida.
Lyn Klein, a fire-breathing liberal of the first order, will lead the meeting!. At the end of the meeting, we will discuss the selection for our February meeting.
